Features / FAQ

Singles Homesteaders Retreat — FAQ

What is the focus of this retreat?

This retreat is centered on practical homesteading skills, shared work, and genuine community in a Christian faith-based environment. It is not a dating retreat or a structured matchmaking experience. Connections are meant to develop naturally through shared learning and time together.

Who is this retreat for?

This retreat is a good fit for singles who:
  • Are interested in homesteading, land-based skills, or livestock

  • Value faith, community, and shared purpose

  • Are comfortable with hands-on learning and group settings

  • Want to meet like-minded people in a grounded, real-world environment

You do not need prior ranch or farming experience.

What formats are being offered?

We are planning two formats:

Weekend Retreat (Friday–Sunday)
A shorter experience focused on core homesteading skills, shared meals, and one fun group outing (hot springs).

Week-Long Retreat (Tuesday–Sunday)
A deeper, more immersive experience with expanded instruction, ranch-based learning, and two special outings (including hot springs).

What activities will be included?

Activities may include:

  • Chicken processing

  • Canning and food preservation

  • Soap making

  • Basic horsemanship

  • Fencing (including electric fencing, pole and barbed wire)

  • Grazing management and planning (cattle)

  • Pastured pig operations

Exact activities may vary slightly by session and format. Weather and availability may dictate certain activities - a fill agenda will be provided within 30 days of your arrival, including read-ahead material (if warranted).

Is this co-ed?

This retreat will be co-ed, while others may be non-coed (men only or women only), depending on interest and session type. Each session will clearly state its format before registration.

Will there be retreats for families or parents with kids?

Yes, we offer family-friendly options, including retreats that welcome children. However they will be clearly designated and structured differently from singles-only sessions. This is a singles retreat without children.

Are there retreats for specific groups (single moms, divorce healing, etc.)?

Yes, we also offer focused retreats such as:

  • Divorce-healing retreats

  • Retreats for single moms

  • Retreats for single men

Availability will be represented on a website under those interests.

What is included in the cost?

The retreat cost will include:

  • Lodging

  • All meals, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic are available)

  • Instruction and materials

  • Scheduled activities and outings

Travel to and from the ranch is not included, however we offer pickup at the Cody, Wyoming Airport.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends upon occupancy, length of stay and dates available.

How does registration work?

  • A deposit will be required to secure your spot - this can be done at checkout on our website.

  • The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the retreat start date and is 100% refundable. Cancellation may be made at anytime. Within 30 day, the refund amount will be 50%.

  • Spots are limited and offered on a first-come basis.

What is the lodging like?

Participants will stay in a combination of cabins and guest homes on the ranch. Lodging is shared unless otherwise specified.

What should I expect physically?

Activities are hands-on and outdoors, but they are accessible to beginners. You should be comfortable being outside, walking uneven ground, and participating in light physical work.

What about faith and spiritual content?

This retreat is Christian faith-based, with shared values and informal discussion. It is not a church camp, and participation in spiritual conversations is respectful and non-coercive.

How many people will attend each retreat?

Group size will be intentionally small — generally 12–14 participants — to keep the experience personal and community-focused.
